After being handed a copy of the upcoming book ‘Axel America and the U.S. Election Race’ by Andy Luke to review, I was engrossed in reading it almost without drawing a breath.
Fast-paced, funny and utterly fascinating at times, the book follows the main protagonist – Axel America – as he battles Morgan Rump in an ideological sense, pursuing Truth. Both protagonists are news anchors and each has their own agenda: Rump to dominate the country by winning the presidency, Axel to expose him for what he really is and put a damper in his plans.
Surrealism abounds in this work, with liberty, justice, freedom, truth and democracy even being encased in active, live characters who play their roles in the book and driving the story forward. By the time you finish reading it, you realize it hits closer to home than you might expect and, for some, even strokes some sensitive chords in relation to their political affiliations.
Considering I’m not that involved in the political mess going on right now, I could easily go through the book without experiencing any strong feelings one way or the other, and instead focusing on enjoying the over-the-top conspiracy theories, portrayal of a scary New World Order and the fictionalized 2016 US Election.
The book comes out September 5th of this year and I strongly encourage you to get yourself a copy.
